This time last year, we asked for your help on Colorado Gives Day
to expand our B.E.A.S.T. (Boulder Electric Assist Service Trailer) program to improve peak season system balancing. And it was a wild success: Your donations helped fund a new electric bike that moved more than 1,200 B-cycles in just 10 weeks!
We loved the B.E.A.S.T. so much, in fact, that we're looking to build on its success in 2018 by expanding our bike-powered system maintenance operations with a brand new program! For this year's Colorado Gives Day
, we're asking for your support in helping us launch B.E.A.U.T.Y.:
The Boulder Electric-Assist Utility Tool (Y Not?)
...We're still working on the acronym. But we're hoping to raise $5,000 to fund the purchase and outfitting of this electric-assist cargo bike that will be dedicated to bike and station maintenance in the field.
Currently, only our gas-powered fleet truck can carry the tools and equipment needed to perform complete maintenance in the field, so having both B.E.A.U.T.Y. and the B.E.A.S.T. in our fleet will allow us to separate out system balancing and maintenance, increasing our bike-powered system operations at key locations and times of day while further reducing our carbon footprint.
